Online tool Adaptation to climate change for municipalities

Municipalities throughout Switzerland are preparing for the consequences of climate change with various measures. The online tool Adaptation to Climate Change of the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN supports them in this process: The tool can be used to evaluate the risks of climate change in one's own municipality. It also shows specific recommendations for action and successful examples from other municipalities.

Climate change in cities

Cities warm up faster and cool down slower at night than the surrounding areas due to the urban heat island effect. The effect is particularly pronounced during clear weather conditions with little wind and intense solar radiation.
