The Confederation’s measures

Trees that are germinating today will live to middle age in a climate already vastly changed. Silvicultural measures must therefore be carried out in a timely manner and, if possible, in such a way that the future forest can fulfil its functions when various possible climate scenarios occur. The lead for implementing measures for adaptation to climate change in the forest management sector is taken by the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN.

Priority themes: Forest functions and climate change

Climate change affects the forest functions, forest health, the distribution of tree species and the forest as carbon sink. Recommendations for adapted forest management are being developed.
