ProClim is the forum dedicated to climate and global change and is part of the SCNAT the Swiss Academy of Sciences. The forum has been building bridges for 30 years: in close cooperation with a broad network of climate experts, ProClim promotes the exchange of knowledge between science, administration, practitioners and the public.
ProClim, Forum for Climate and Global Change, promotes climate research and dialogue between science, politics, business, the media and society on all issues relating to climate and global change. To achieve this ProClim advises administration, politics, business and the media on climate issues, and invites experts to round table discussions. In addition, in close cooperation with a broad network of national and international researchers ProClim prepares synthesis reports, fact sheets and statements across disciplines. By consulting a broad range of scientific experts in the field, ProClim ensures the high quality of its products.
ProClim supports scientists
ProClim is constantly expanding and maintaining its comprehensive network. The forum provides the network with information on national and international activities in the field of climate change, promotes and supports the active participation of Swiss experts in International Panel for Climate Change and other international research programmes and maintains a comprehensive database of researchers, research projects and scientific publications in the field of climate science. Twice a year ProClim publishes the «ProClim Flash», the Swiss journal on climate and global change.
ProClim regularly organises information events and conferences for scientists and experts from professional associations, the Confederation, cantons and municipalities - including the annual «Swiss Global Change Day», which brings the Swiss research community together across disciplines and promotes exchange within the network.
The media and administration also use the network to obtain information on current research programmes and to obtain the contact details of climate experts from ProClim. They also use ProClim to check their articles and broadcast concepts or reports for scientific compatibility.
ProClim is backed by a team of seven permanent staff members with specialist training in geography, meteorology, biology, physics, environmental sciences, astronomy, German studies and communication.
